Tristan de Lange signs with Imbuko Giant & Vye Cycle Kit for 2021

There were a lot of team transfer towards the end of 2020 and beginning of 2021, one of which was the signing of Tristan de Lange by Imbuko Giant Pro Cycling. De Lange (23) hails from Namibia, but has spent the last few years residing in Stellenbosch whilst completing his studies, along with racing on the professional circuit domestically and abroad. The former Namibian XCO champion had a superb 2020 season, despite the lack of racing opportunity, he made his presence felt early on, finishing 3rd overall at the Tankwa Trek (4 days) alongside fellow countryman Alex Miller, competing against a world class field.

We were delighted to hear the news that Tristan would be sporting our threads for 2021 and hopefully beyond. Sponsoring top tier athletes and teams, such as Imbuko Giant, is an integral factor to our success in developing comfortable, stylish and performance driven kit. They do not only generate media and exposure for the brands they represent, but help steer the brands they work with in the right direction. For us as Vye Cycle Kit, the team provides valuable feedback on the garments they wear and allow us to rigorously test new materials and products in the real world. With the teams racing calendar and training load, we can significantly increase the speed of long term testing, ensuring the products meet certain criteria before going to market. After all, there is no testing ground quite like the Absa Cape Epic; so naturally, we were quite keen to hear Tristan’s first impressions:

“Personally, I’m super pedantic when it comes to cycling kit because it’s the uniform I wear to get the job done. Should it be uncomfortable, then my seating position changes, you’re too hot/cold. Also, it’s the direct link that pins you to be a cyclist – and you want to look good too.
I’ve ridden the Vye Cycling Kit for around 2 weeks now and it's only getting better. Not only does it look super sleek with its slightly longer sleeve endings, but it delivers comfort and professionality twice over.

The shirt is light, well rounded – no pressure points, sitting skin-tight but with so little pressure that you forget it’s there and heat most certainly is no problem.
The bib follows through the above statements with the material falling into sync with muscle tones and linings. The best part of it all though, is the shammy. As its not bulky like most others, chafing has been no issue. Despite less volume though, it still ensures more cushioning and comfort than any other I’ve tried and tested.

Vye Cycle Kit is definitely my ‘go-to’ for the race season, I look forward to working with them” – Tristan de Lange (2021).
We look forward to working with Tristan and the team in 2021, we might be biased, but the team definitely has the best-looking kit on the professional scene. To get your own custom threads made up, get in touch with us on sales@vyecyclekit.co.za
